WINDOWS 2003 WHOMPS LINUX IN FILE SERVER PERFORMANCE TEST
This item isn't really WinHEC-related, but it's fun. In a recent
test that compared Windows 2003 to various Linux versions, Microsoft's
most recent server OS tromped the competition by 66 percent to 100
percent in various file-server-related performance tests. The test,
which VeriText performed and prepared under Microsoft contract, found
that Windows 2003 significantly outperformed Linux. But the Linux
community refuses to believe the findings because Microsoft
commissioned the test. I think Linux aficionados need to wake up and
smell the coffee: From a performance standpoint, Windows 2003 is a
rip-roaring performance hot rod, and I suspect other tests will come
to the same conclusion. The OS is already trouncing key industry
benchmark records for a reason, and it has nothing to do with
"influencing" test results.i got this from:WinInfo Daily UPDATE--brought to you by the Windows & .NET Magazine

I'd rather take a small cluster of linux boxes than a single over priced and over hyped Windows 2003 box.

performance is not always measured in speed
It can also be measured in security and reliability
given microsofts history I question the validity of there resultsif they say its more secure its only because no ones has tried to hack into it yet
linux is secure and proven
