Hello,
I was wondering if there is an equivalent to the using alt+f keys to change virtual terminals using either ssh or serial consoles? I have a machine wich I am having to run headlessly and am wondering how it would be possible to multitask on this machine if I could not sit in front of it and use the alt+f keys to change to the different virtual terminals. Using ssh, must I create a new connection for every terminal that I want, or, is there another way? I do know about the using the & sign to background the task, but, was wondering if there is something else. Thanks so much.

Frank - There is an application called 'screen'.

Probably not installed by default.

Might be what you are looking for.

Take a look at this to see if it could work for you:
