Since I am poor, I am trying to put all four OS on the same harddrive. btw I am installing Gentus Linux from Abit. I use fdisk to create 6 partitions on my 30G drive, giving C: to F: 4Gig each. They are the partitions I am going to install those OS on. And then I created a 384mb partition for swapfile for linux, and another 12Gig for share data between all OS. Win98 needs to be installed on C: so that's where I put it. However, I was unable to format D: because Gentus doesn't allow me convert the file system to Linux native. How can I do it? And will all OS coexit correctly? Thanks.

I have been using System Commander (V-Communications) for multi-booting Linux, Win95, Win98, and Win 3.11. It works very well. It is supposed to work for Windows NT but I have no experience with that. It is much easier to use than LILO. It will probably work for the new operating systems as well.

To install the system:

1) install win98 on the first prime partition.

2) load System Commander

3) install Linux creating appropriate partitions with the Linux partition tools (I like fdisk.) Have the installer place LILO on the partition that /boot is in.

Reboot your computer. System commander will detect the Linux partition. You can now select Win98 or Linux at startup.

4) continue installing other operating systems.

System Commander can hide partitions from windows that it shouldn't see or that you might want to protect.

You will have to partition your disk so that each of your boot partitions are within the first 1024 cylinders of your harddrive. This is usually not a problem for drives that are 8 GB or smaller but you will have to work around that with a 30 GB drive.

Hey Ironman28...that's a pretty silly question to ask. Do you really think someone would BUY three operating systems (plue one free os) for one machine? Of course the are copied!

The real question is, why did you post your post? To make the kid feel small?

Bravo!
