I'm trying to make a bootable USB drive with puppy linux. I booted to Puppy with a CD, and selected the option of installing on a USB drive.. that went fine. The USB drive boots, but half way through loading, it says that it couldn't find the puppy linux partition or something. I've tried using the installer to the USB drive multiple times with different options, but all have the same result. Any ideas?
It's a 512MB drive btw.

The USB drive may be looking for the hard drive partition for swap and does not find one particularly if the boot drive on your computer is normally a SATA one.Linux Live CDs seem to work with a IDE hard drive as the primary one.Good luck.

I had trouble with puppy in the past ... not tried a recent release.
An option:
Try Damn Small Linux(DSL).
I had good results with installing it on a 128MB USB Flash Drive (Corsair Original(black) Flash Voyager).

DLD: http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/downl...

Among being able to boot from USB drive and many other things, DSL can

Boot from within a host operating system (that's right, it can run *inside* Windows)
