Does anybody know how I can keep Linux from seeing my USB graphics tablet as a USB mouse?

I run a dual boot of windows and Linux all the time. Recently added new computer and graphics tablet. I've set up windows and the tablet is working great, but when I went to install Linux my PS/12 mouse would not work. I found the problem was that Linux is seeing my tablet as a USB mouse.

I know I can unplug the tablet when running Linux, but I was wondering if there is any way to get Linux to see my PS/2 mouse and forget about the graphics tablet. Right now my mouse is not usuable if the tablet is connected.

Edit your xf86config file, go to section inputdevice for the mouse, change the option protocol to (probably) "ImPS/2", and the option device to "/dev/psaux".
