How do you program in Red Hat 6.0?

Also, what are some good software designing programs to download?

This is like asking "How do you hunt in Wisconsin?"

What do you want to program? C, C++, FORTRAN, Java, PERL, LISP, BASH, PHP...

Hello Ian,
You can use the in-built RH compiler, gcc, to start. You create the source code by typing a program in an editor (e.g. vi) and using gcc to compile it into a machine-readable format (an executable program).
Start by searching for C++ tutorials (e.g type into Google 'C++ tutorials' or similar).
It's a complicated subject, so maybe a reference book will help (e.g Sams 'Teach yourself C++ in 24 Hours')
For info on gcc type in a command line 'man gcc' or 'info gcc'
Go for it!

Regards
Bill Freeman
