Hi Guys,
I have some problems with program installations. I want to communicate a win2000 workstation and a LINUX Red Hat 8.0. I've tried to install the samba but I had some problems when i tried to tar it.
Can anyone give me a detailed overview of how to get samba running and how to compile source codes ..

Samba should be on your CDs so just install it from there unless you want to latest version of it! When you said you have problem in tarring it, what kind of error message did it say? Normally, the file should come in either tar.gz or tar.bz2.
tar xvzf filename.tar.gz -or- tar xvjf filename.tar.bz2
And the instruction on how to compile, build, and configure for your system are on www.samba.org!!!
