Problem with X windows

Hi guys,
I've installed Linux several times but Every time I have problem with the X window. I can only work in dos mode and every time I run startx, i get the message that x windows librarys can't be opened or something like that.

what do i do..Thanks in advance..

At the shell prompt:
#Xconfigurator
select conservative settings until you get
X windows to run. Perhaps you were not successful in getting X windows to run during the installation, so you can try again with
Xconfigurator
