I have recently installed SuSE Linux 9.0. Installation went fine but there seems to be a problem with my network card. Basically it does not automatically detect my network card. I have a nvidia nforce2 onboard chip. Since SuSE couldn’t recognise the network card I have downloaded the driver(.rpm) and installed it. First it worked fine but when I restarted the computer it gave an error message.
When I tipped in modprobe nvnet, got the following error message.
linux:/home/turbo # modprobe nvnet

Did you just upgrade your kernel? The rpm package contains a kernel module (which you load using modprobe), and It is kernel version specefic. It only works for a kernel it was compiled against. You should either install from the source package (which you will build yourself using _your_ kernel headers), or you can download a version for your kernel. I think the problem you're having is because you're using using an "athlon optimized" kernel. You should download the drivers for _your_kernel_version_ else they will _not_work.
your kernel version is:
2.4.21-override-athlon
