Problem with LAN ....

HI. i use linux mandrank 8.2
And my office have 4 group of lan
ex:. support , service , acc. , admin

when i use windows i can see all i can ping by name but i install linux
I can play internet i can ping ip , and i can use nslookup + ip it show name of that IP. but when i ping [ name ] it not show.

If i wanna know who in lan . what they do.
what command ? for check .

if my detail is. [ i use windows winipcfg ]
show
hostname mahpae
DNS server 10.0.4.105
Node Type Hybird
Ip address 10.0.101.80
Subnet mask 255.255.0.0
DEfault gat, 10.0.0.1
DHCO server 10.0.4.105
Primary WINS Server 10.0.4.105


what fine to set ? please help me

what command for check what they do ?
and how to i know REAL ip for me. and they
sometime i want to remote from home to office for download.

Ps1. if I want to make fileserver , mailserver i can do ?
I not server computer i just one conputer in office

Sounds like your DNS is not set up correctly. Try running netconf to set it up and ifconfig to view current setting.

NB ifconfig eth0 [up/down] will turn your network connection on/off providing you have the one NIC and its set up as eth0
