I recently got a new hd, partitioned it as ext3 for linux and installed linux, it didnt work, so i deleted the partition figuring i can just try again. well I am using the grub boot loader, and never told it to stop trying to load linux, so when i boot, it just takes me to the grub console. I cant make any new partitions in anaconda, and i cant install linux anywhere else. anyone have any siggestions?

If you want to reinstall RedHat do not boot using grub. Boot using the RedHat CD1. If the RedHat install program finds an existing linux partition it should give you the option of deleting this space and reusing it.
BTW, you do not need to configure a partition before you install RedHat 9. Just leave the space unallocated or free. When you boot with the RedHat 9 CD1 then automatic partitioning can be used to partition your disk for you.
