Hello there, I tried installing RH9 on a spare HD before, and it gets so far finding all the devices etc, but when it comes to boot into the graphical installer, the monitor just flashes on and off and wont stop unless I reboot, meaning I cant install it. Any ideas anyone?

Install it in text mode (text-based installation). When you get the initial prompt (upon boot), the instructions for this option should appear on your screen.
Then, you can choose your video setup (X) during the text install or wait and skip it until after your first boot into linux (run "redhat-config-xfree86" from a command prompt after you log in as "root")
