Hello Everybody.
I installed printer (SAMSUNG CLP-500) on Linux and shared it in network under Samba. I want to use this printer from other machines, which work mostly under w2k. I dont care if anyboby can print under linux. This is not important. It is desired to use own machines to perform printing only thrue network. Printer is visible on network. I can connect with it etc. But THE PROBLEM IS that when I print TEST PAGE I get some strange sings (Like #$@!^&). I checked carefully posts dealing on printing, sharing printers, samba etc. But I still cannot solve the problem.
(I used "use client driver = yes" command of course)thanks in advance.

Good Question.
I checked carefully manual of the printer. And there is nothing about that. I strongly suppose that they are PCL drivers. I suppose that it is crucial. But how crucial? I thought that ma problem is connected with some setting on Linux Machine.

GNU/Linux uses postscript for printing. Have you tried printing a test page from the samba server itself? If using cups you can configure your printers and print a test page by browsing to http://127.0.0.1:631 on the server. Have you tried setting "use client driver = no"?

The solution of my problem i written very well in linux and samba docs.
How to install printer in "raw mode" under RetHat:
https://www.redhat.com/docs/
How to set up printer in samba:
http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/My problem was connected with something else. I installed additional program provided by manufacturer together with drivers. When I set a new printer as "raw" it still didnt work. After removing it everything started to work properly. I thing there was some conflict between this program and linux print system. But the fact is that It works properly now.
