.pls and web radio streams

Could someone tell me about .pls and
point me to the right places to learn how to set up my own streaming radio?

The information out there is very confusing and I cannot seem to figure this one out on my own.

Any info would help, not just OS specific, Thanks.

you need the shoutcast software to stream audio by yourself go to www.shoutcast.com, the pls file you only need to make it in winamp, save the pls file and upload to your server
