I'm new to Linux and would like to start learning about it. My question is this, what would be the bare minimum requirements for a computer to install Linux on it. I have an old Pentium II (266 Mhz) with 80 megs of ram, built on sound and video, laying around running windows 2000 right now. Is this enough for Linux, I heard that you don't need alot power for Linux as opposed for windows. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Oh yeah, websites for Linux would be cool also. Thanks again.
Your PII is plenty fine. You'll need around Gigs for a full install. That would include both KDE and Gnome (so you can try both), office apps, multimedia, etc.

I personaly recomend that you try Vector-Linux 2.0, if you have some experience with creating partitions and ms-dos this is the distribution for you.

Hey, thanks for advice guys, I really appreciate it. I'm pretty familiar with Windows XP and want to learn something new, that's why I picked Linux. It seems interesting and challenging. Thanks again for advice.
