Friend only has access to AOL. This pengaol dialer is supposed to be able to let linux connect to world wide web with just valid AOL username and password. No trying to run AOL megabloat windows software under wine. I tried installing the rpm version on his Mandrake8.3. Starts to install, then "unspecified error" and aborts. Tried the tar version also. It wont create all the files its suppose to. This is a French program. Anybody in USA successfully install and use it? Especially the rpm version since my friend can install that himself and doesnt have to bug me. Both the ones I tried were the non-gui versions. Is some kind of special library needed for pengaol to install or is it just buggy software?

Are you trying to install it on Mandrake 8.3? There is no such thing as Mandrake 8.3, either 8.2 or 9 beta 4!!!

Dont all rush to answer... Anybody runs across this post, can ignore, I got older version PengAOL to install and function. AOL should consider cooperating and offering this dialer as a Linux option. Beats all the crappy bloatware they offer to connect using 'doze. Of course it only provides a basic internet connection to WWW and not access to all the AOL stuff which my friend didnt give a rat's behind about anyways.
