PC won't boot after installing rh

OS: win98/redhat8
CPU/Ram: Athlon / 640MB

Installed redhat8, it says unknown monitor so changed to a standard 1280x1024 monitor, (usually keep on unprobed but gfx drivers don't install properly). Desktop displayed ok on testing at 1280x1024, but when I rebooted after setup, PC won't boot (doesn't start up monitor and freezes early).

Hi
edit the file
/etc/X11/xf86config
or
/etc/X11/xf86config-4
and put the correct values for your monitor.
