Comment:

I just would like to install Linux 8.0 in
my Pc Pentium III 550 with 96Mb memory from
CD-rom.
I've an Hard Disk with 10G space with
Windows Me installed! I'd like to give 2G
to Linux how shuold I do the partition?
I can see"The Dakx Partitioning wizard
found the following soluctions:
1)Remove Windows 2)Use the free space on the
Windows partition 3)Custom disk partioning"
Is 2° soluction fine?
What should I write after if I wanna
have Linux 8.0 installed with WindowsME?
Thanks

Chances are that Windoze took up the whole drive itself and there will not be enough free space to install onto it.

Of course I would suggest option 1 and get rid of Bill all together, but perhaps something along the lines of Partition Magic would do as it will allow you to shrink the Windoze partition and create a 2Gb one for Linux without losing any data.

Yes, Partition Magic is worth the investment.
I built my own Partition Magic boot disk,
and do all of my partition work from there.

If you go with P.M. send me an e-mail and I'll send you a list of files you'll need to put on a floppy to run P.M. from dos.

Though P.M. comes with a disk builder it did a poor job of including all the files needed to work correctly.

you can have troubles using partition manager and it isn't free
so;
defrag with windows defrag , not nortons
download "partition resizer" and boot with a floppy ,this prog will take a slize from your c: partition.

or you can use fips

ps; 6 gig is enough for windows and make a little d:partition for your documents and backups
