i have looked everywhere trying to solve this problem and i hope this is the place where i might finally solve my problem.
i have obtained a copy of redhat 8.0 and wish to install it on my second hard drive as i have xp on the first.
i boot from the cd and choose to install in graphical mode. it runs through the checks and freezes, see below

My first drive is a western digital 20gb
and the second is a seagate 20gb.
i can install rh fine if i disconnect my master and make the seagate the master drive but can not have both connected.
Does anyone have any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated!

1.verify that in WinXP you can see the harddrive.
2.verify that the partition table in the second HD is proper. wipe it if you can.
3.check the jumper setting, may be it is set as master when you have plugged it in as slave.

xp does see it as b4 linux i used it to store my file and stuff on.
i formatted the drive before attempting to install rh. (but it was formatted to fat)
the jumper settings are correct and in dos it reconizes the xp hd as master and the other as slave.
any other ideas??

whats the problem?
Connect it as master, install redhat, then connect it as slave!
simple.
Though that doesn't explain why the problem is occuring...
If the hd shows fine in the bios then there must be a problem with the redhat install CD kernel.
