OS: RH Linux 8.0
CPU/Ram: PIII 1GHz/ 128

Hi all
my package management tools isn't working. it goes through the "processing header.." and then does something else and then closes without doing anything (when i try to install new packages) i tried opening it from the console i get the same thing, with few error messages and warnings in the consloe.

what exactly are you trying to do? i always prefer use the xterm, so try with the rpm command, rpm -i to install a package, rpm -e to erase, rpm -Uvh to upgrade, rpm -qa to view what packages are installed,

Go to freshrpms.net and get apt and synaptic for RH 8.0 and build the repository
Type as root apt-get update and then apt-get check. This will build your repository and if you use apt-get it will get your dependencys for you when you get the package your need.
Synaptic is the GUI for apt it works great in RH 7.3
