Hello Gang: I have Oracle 8i for Linux. I would like to install it on Mandrake 7.2 or Suse 7. I know I need JRE 1.1.6, I HAVE IT!!!
My questions are:
How do I install JRE 1.1.6? I have it unzipped at the moment? Which is the best linux in terms of ease of Install for Oracle 8i?
Caldera's knowledgebase seems very straightforward, does any one have any experience with that document?

Reply:
Unzip jre 1.16 to /usr/local. Create two symlinks(ln -s) in the same directory called java and jre, that both point to your jre_1.1.6(or whatever) directory. You're done. Install Oracle. PS RedHat7 does not complete the Oracle installation. I had to downlevel to 6.2.
