Optical drives

I am putting a Celeron computer together and I wish to install the latest release of Kubuntu on it. I'd like to install a CDRW & DVD combined drive. Are there issues with getting drivers or Nero-style programs for writeable optical media? Should I go for any particular make of drive to get the best driver support in Kubuntu? Tommy.

While that is a good hardware compatibility list, every CD drive built in the last 10 years (that I've seen) has had kernel drivers. --hackmiester
