operating system error

I had a pc that had caldera os, i did delete the caldera, now i did dwnld a redhat 7.3 wit 3cds, now when i start the pc to boot from cd, I get boot from atapi cd-rom failed missing operating system. isn't that what i am trying to do is installing os, my cd is working fine because I can boot with dos boot disk and see the files on cd #1 of redhat can you please help with how to get the red hat installed in this machine, Thanks

Try this. Boot your system using either Win95 or Win98 bootable disk. Then at the prompt, type
fdisk /mbr
Then, boot your system up this time with the first CD in the drive with the BIOS supporting CD-ROM.

I did that with dos bootdisk and did not work. i think dos, win95 or win98 are the same as long as the pc boots, I realy did not knoe the perpose of having win95 or win98 bootdisk, but Thanks for the quick response

Try dos fdisk to delete all partions including non dos partions ,and check your bios if configured to boot from CD first (which some how could be altered ?), good luck
