I have an old (1993) Mitsumi CDROM drive (Model Nr.: CRMC-FX001 ). Also i have a module called 'mcd', but i don't know if it's the correct module. I tried to activate the drive but it doesn't work. Maybe i've done something wrong with the parameters...
If anyone is there who can tell me what's to do or where i can look for altenate drivers please tell me ...

i think this type of cd rom drive needs to be plugged into the soundcard, not the IDE sockets. i don't know whether linux supports it, but you would need a compatible creative soundblaster or equivalent card to even think about it.
cheers
tacitus

Did you try mount /dev/cdrom -t iso9660 /mnt?
If successful goto /mnt type ls
Don't forget to unmount afterwards.

I also have a mitsumi crmc-fx001 and I have the same problem, but linux is not intalled yet, because the computer can not find my cd-rom drive I can not install linux.
I can only start the installation from a boot disk
I also got the mcd module and another
module for a mitumi cd-rom drive but they don't work.
My cd-rom drive is plugged into a little 16bit ide controller that was used before in another computer for the samed cd-rom drive.
I can use my cd rom drive only in ms-dos or os/2 warp.
There is also an ide controller on my soundcard (creative labs soundblaster 16 but I haven't tried yet to plug it onto that ide controller, I have a module for a cd-rom drive that's plugged onto a soundcard with an ide controller.
If you have a soundcard with an ide controller I can mail you the image file for the driver disk with that module if you want to, if you want I mail you that image file mail to mattismichel@pandora.be.

I need a module for the SoundBlaster 16 CDROM drive. I can't install Linux, so can someone send it to my email?
