Comment: I am a linux noob. I just want internet connectivity. Does anyone know of a model/brand of PCMCIA wireless cards that will work by just inserting it into the slot? or maybe one that actually comes with the friggin drivers so I can use ndiswrapper? Its my first day of linux, and I did not intend to learn how to compile kernels from source just yet, and I am tired of using ndiswrapper to install kooky drivers that don't work. I have seen the HCL thing at linux-wlan, but I dont recall it saying whether they had to do any of the aforementioned to get it to work. The netgear's look like they'll work but i dunno. ty, j]x[c

Reply: (edit)From my previous posts dealing with wireless cards...I feel your pain. Take a look at the advice I was given on setting up my True Mobile wireless card from 3Dave. The advice that was given was excellent and it should be the same no matter what card you use. I am not a command line kind of guy but I figured it out and was able to double check the configs using my GUI. It is possible to take a card that was designed for Windows (mine is True Mobile) and make it work with linux...it just takes a bit of work. Good luck. IronHorse
