Hi,

I am having problem with installation of redhat 7.2 when i tried to partition
the disk. the error message is given below:

An error has occured - no valid devices were found on which to create new
filesystem. please check your hardware for the cause of the problem.

Hardware config:

it is a Dell precision 650 MiniTower dual 2.8 GHz xeon processor (512K Full
speed cache) with nvidia quadro4 900XGL, 128MB, VGA and DVI graphics card. hard

disk is 73 Gig scsi (15K RPM) and 4GB, 266MHz, Double Data Rate SDRAM.

Installation mode i am following:

Since i have nvidia graphics card which is not supported by redhat, i was
following test mode of boot mode by booting the machine with RedHat media and
entering boot: text arguement. I am going though the steps until the disk
partition. When i get partition menu, when i select Disk Druid (or any other
method), it gives me above mentioned error.

well, the problem is the 3rd party s/w runs only on redhat 7.2. also, i need to install oracle as well; redhat 8.0 doesn't support oracle 8....

definitely need to find a way through...

does the install recognize your SCSI HA?
What HA?

for what will you be using a dual 2.8 GHz xeon?
