Folks:

I haven't had much luck in getting my Riptide/Rockwell soundcard to work on my Mandrake 8.1 Linux partition. It's proprietary garbage. It's one that has the modem, sound card, and game controller allllll integrated on one card. It's made by riptide/rockwell. I've searched the web through and through, and have come across many failed solutions. I wanted to post this message as a last plea before I start paying money to get this thing to work, i.e., buy another sound card or try the OSS driver that costs money. Can anyone post a play-by-play of how to get this card to work? I'm not too familiar with recompiling kernels, etc., so the more detail, the more appreciated it is. Thanks.

yuckmouth.

Weird cards like that are rarely supported by linux. So unless you know how to program drivers or know someone who will do it for you then you are out of luck. OSS doesn't really support it either. It supports similar chipsets so it might work. You can try OSS before you buy it so you don't have to find out it doesn't work after you bought it.
