Comment:

Hi folks,
I installed Mandrake 9.1 on two different computers.
Strange thing is, when I'm logged in as root, my right-click doesn't work.
When I'm logged on as a user, everything's fine. Does anyone know a way around this.

This is set by default... Don't ask me why... I'm not using Mandrake anymore so I can't remember exactally where to go... Um.... Try right clicking on the quick launch area... If that doesn't work, go thru the K button and um... I really forget. You access all those prefrences thru the "K" button... Desktop configuration... System settings... System prefrences.... Something like that... It's in there..... Took me about 2 minutes to track it down... Root is really stripped down as far as automatic functionality goes... Have to enable all that stuff...

Thanks John, I'll dig some more. I had a hard time finding anything and figured I'd ask before spending more time on it.

I found it.
Open the Control Center.
Go to "Look and Feel" and "Behavior"

I guess they're really trying to be nazis about using the root account.

yep... They do. It's sound advice not to use root unless you have to... I use it all the time, but ussually thru a terminal. It's easier to acidentally delete something or edit something when your Roots GUI......

Good luck

Jon
