I am running a cable modem and I set the IP and SM up and it doesnt want to work. I boot into KDE after getting the settings changed and no browser wants to access anything or nothing its a bit gay. If your connected to the internet and are unable to go to any web pages with your browser. You probably don't have any DNS server address's listed in you resolv.conf file. Look in your /etc dir for a file called resolv.conf, open it in a text editor, there should be 1 or 2 DNS severs listed. If not you'll have to get them from your ISP and add them to the file.
