Hello Gang:
I have a Mandrake and a Suse. I would like to try NFS, but whenevr I try to mount one from the other it says RPC program not registered. I made sure NFS was started by using RCPINFO -p on bothe computers. I have exports file setup as per the book and the man pages. I am in init 3 on both computer and I have made sure NFS starts in runlevel 3.
What am I missing. If there is a thread that addresses this please give the number.

Hi harsh,
1. maybe you should have a look at these two files: /etc/hosts.allow /etc/hosts.denie There schould be something like "ALL: local" in hosts.allow. 2. If all is fine in these two files: What does rpcinfo -p "hostname" say ? There should be a mentioning of rpc.mountd and rpc.nfsd ?
