I SEE ON MY MAIL SERVER THAT /home is 70% full and /usr is 73% full..looked deep into the sub-dir's(du sk *) to see if I can compress something but all I see is the users files(stored in their mailbox I guess) which I don't want to touch..atleast to move to another partition, I don't see enough disk space except on /boot=7%used...Pls let me know, what else can I do..Thanks.

First, boot is normally very small and reserved for the boot image. I wouldn't recommend this partition.

Second the /usr is reserved for programs, libraries, system files etc. Users normally don't have write access to this partition. If you don’t intend on installing much more software, or don’t use this drive for FTP or something, then 73% isn’t terrible.

Third, all of your user files including mail are stored in the /home partition. If this partition is getting this full, you may want to see if you can get a hold of another hard drive or try removing some of the user files to a backup device or something. It sounds as if you are running into the common issue of not enough storage and there is only one real way to fix that...increase it!

Good Luck!
