so, i'm finally getting around 2 installing and learning linux. i've dloaded rh8.0 and burnt them 2 three disks. i've thoroughly read the "getting started with linux red hat" manual and the installation guide at redhat.com, although i can't say i fully understood them.
my question is about multibooting. i've read many posts here about this subject but none seem to match my desired setup.
i have 2 hard drives and here is how they r setup:
my first hard drive is a 60 gigger w/ win98se on it w/ the whole thing being fat32.
my second hard drive is a 40 gigger that i have split 3 ways:
the first section of it is 20 gigs partioned as fat32.
the second section is 6 gigs partioned as ntfs that i have win xp pro on.
the third section is the rest of the drive that has never been partitioned. this is where i would like 2 put redhat8.

i am paranoid that when i install from the cds that i will accidentally overwrite the first 2 partitions on my drive.
i guess my specific question is whether or not redhat will recognise these other partitions during installation and give me the opportunity to install to the unpartitioned section of the disk.
thank u 4 your time

Try to use Partion Magic....
make two partitions on the space that is left blank on ur HD. Define one partition as a Linux Swap (size about 600-900 MB) and the other as a common linux part. (i guess its Ext.2 type) and try installing .... use LiLo as ur boot loader.......
