I accidentally changed my display settings and when I rebooted, I get a "Cannot Display This Video Mode" error. HOW do I change it back? I'm a newbie, so some detailed instructions would be very helpful! I can't get into graphical mode(Obviously,)so what do I do, reinstall? Please answer quickly!
Thanks much,
Scott

A quick one just in case it works....when it boots and you get to the blank screen (I assume this is because your graphics card can handle the resolution but your monitor can't), try pressing "Ctrl & Alt & -" (thats minus on the numeric keypad...not net to the equals sign). Do this, perhaps a couple of times, will hopefully cycle through different resolutions until you find one you can display. Then just make your changes back.
If this doesn't work, at the lilo/grub prompt (ie before booting), type:
linux 3This will get you into textmode.
If I remember correctly for Red Hat, try running:
# redhat-config-xsetupIf not, you remember what you changed right?!? And where it was? If so see if there is a backup of the file you changed, probably /etc/x11/XF86Config-4. It may end in a ~ or .old. Rename it back and try again.
You can launch X (graphical mode) by typing:
# startx
and quit it (even if you can't see it) by "Ctrl & Alt & Backspace"
