Hi!, I have installed on my PC an aureal vortex 2 soundcard driver, chipset au8830. So far i can hear my CD-rom musics, mp3 don't work and linux is silent. During the installation i got this error message: [root@localhost aureal]# make install mv -f /etc/modules.conf /etc/modules.conf.old gawk -f mod_conf /etc/modules.conf.old > /etc/modules.conf echo "alias sound au8830" >> /etc/modules.conf echo "alias midi au8830" >> /etc/modules.conf mkdir -p /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/misc cp -f au8830.o /lib/modules/2.4.2-2/misc /sbin/depmod -a /sbin/rmmod au8830 rmmod: module au8830 is not loaded make: [install] Error 1 (ignored) /sbin/modprobe au8830 [root@localhost aureal]# What should i do to fix it? Every time i open linux i have to reinstall my sound(make install) because if i don't do it then i don't get any sound. Kind of weird , isn't it? Is there a guru out there? Thanks in advance.

You have login as root to use /sbin /usr/sbin commands. If you su as root, you wont get them to your path. So command goes as /sbin/modprobe (in this case "/sbin/modprobe au8830".
