Comment:
I'm trying to get my net up using ndiswrapper 1.2 the card is a lynksys wusb54g.
I'm a linux newbie so please keep that in mind.
ndiswrapper -l :lists the drivers loaded and hardware status result: driver present hardware present
wlan0 gets an entry in mandrakelunux control center
What I need to make sure is if i need wireless support in the kernel (as in how to check if it's already there or not) and if SMP support is enabled or disabled? Could someone please help?
Truth can become lie, but if lies become truth we're in trouble.

Reply:
If ndiswrapper is showing driver and hardware present the next step is to put an entry in the /etc/modules.conf file by executing the commands (as root)
ndiswrapper -m modprobe ndiswrapper
If this fails please append the results of 'tail -f -n 50 /var/log/syslog' 'cat /etc/modules.conf' 'ndiswrapper -l' 'lsmod' 'lspci -v'
