Basically, my Winblows box has just broken down (surprise, surprise), and I need to use Linux for everything for a while. I'm not complaining, but the only piece of software I cannot locate for Linux (that I use a hell of a lot), is MSN messenger. Does anyone have any idea how I can get a Linux version? I can't seem to find one...

You might want to try to use wine. I know it works great for AIM so it might just work for MSN Messenger. As for an actual version ported for Linux, that's doubtful as it is a M$ product. You could try a search on www.freshmeat.net

Hi all,

There is a 4-in-1 client which can support MSN, Yahoo, AIM and ICQ -- EveryBuddy.

You now can go to http://www.everybuddy.com to get one for free.

Kindest Regards,
Joe Yiu

I tried Imici but haven't been able to run it. I get a segmentation fault. So i suggest you look for an alternative.

I've been using 0.1.5 for about a month (pre-built RPM) and it crashes with a core dump every time. I can chat for a little while, no idea what's making it crash, I gave up on it.

Imici (www.imici.com) and EveryBuddy (www.everybuddy.com) seem to work fine for me. They both support Yahoo, ICQ, MSN and AIM messengers.

Imici even comes with a windows version if that suits anybodies fancy.
