Hi to play mp3 or .wav files you gonna have to download the appropriate plugin. follow this link: http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm/
downolad this file: xmms-mpg123-1.2.7-21.i386.rpm and start from there with the usual command rpm -iv filename (remember to cd yourself in the directory the rpm file is located) Hope that helps

and don't convert your mp3s to ogg. They're both lossy formates (ie, they cleverly cut out parts of the music which you won't notice according to the bitrate) and mp3 cuts out different parts than ogg, so if you convert to mp3 from wav, then wav again from mp3 (you have to) your wav file won't be as good as the orignal, and then when you convert that wav file to ogg then ogg will remove other parts from it, so sound quality will become quite poor. Though ogg is much better than mp3, only rpm your cds directly to ogg or you get the worst of both formats...

Balram Adlakha is right. The music will sound like crap. Its good to know your moving to Ogg though. Do you still have the origional CDs? You can always rip them again, even though its annoying.
