Mouse not detected

Hey guys quick question. I just installed redhat 8.0 and it went smoothly except for not detecting the mouse. in installation it said no mouse detected so i manually selected what mouse was attached and now it still doesnt detect the mouse. it is an intellimouse that i have hooked up through the ps2 port. it is also usb compatible. should i try it in the usb port instead? or should i try another mouse?
