I just installed linux mandrake 8.0 on my machine. It is a dual boot with Win ME. My mouse, a MS wireless optical mouse connected via USB will not work in linux. What am I missing? Thanks for your help!

I use the Logitech cordless mouseman optical on ps/2 mouse port and have NO trouble. Have used in both Mandrake 8.0 and 8.1 (both powerpack editions). Also configured as mouseman+ for wheel, etc. Nice ting abot the logitech, is that once you establish the radio link between mouse and base unit, no further relinking is needed, even when changing batteries.

Might want to try changing the mouse protocol in your xf86config file to IMPS/2. The line in XF86Config should look like this:

Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"

Also, try installing the "input" and "mousedev" modules as they helped me with my logitech optical :).

Good Luck
