mounting windows fs from redhat

How do I mount a windows xp filesystem into redhat9? I'm not sure which FS type to specify. I tried using ntfs, and it says not that the fs type is not supported by the kernel. thanks in advance

Redhat have always been backwards in supporting filesystems. They still don't include ReiserFS support afaik. Unless they've removed support from the kernel source, your best bet's to install the sources and compile a kernel with NTFS support built-in. I think if you search on sourceforge.net there's a plug-in NTFS module if you don't fancy re-compiling.

to try NTFS on linux you have to download and install support for ntfs on linux kernel. you can download it from here http://freshmeat.net/projects/paragonntfs4linux/ hope that helps
