Hi, I managed to configure my linux computer to mount an smb-share when I login, but the shares are not mounted when I log in via ftp.

the reason I want to get this working is because the server where the smb-share is located doesn't allow ftp-logins (or ftp-server is not installed, I don't exactly know because it's not my own server)

any ideas?

Johan

No, that's not what I want.

I have access to an smb-share on a server, lets call it 'bsggtgv'.
that server doesn't allow logins via ftp or ssh.
I have my own server, p311, to which I have full access. I can configure an account on p311 in such a way that if I log in to this account, the smb-share on bsggtgv is mounted on p311. in this way I can access the share via my server.

the thing that I can't get to work is to mount the share on p311 while logging in via ftp instead of ssh (or directly on the server).

The reason I want to to do this is that I want ftp-access to the files on the bsggtgv-server (is a webserverver for a domain of which I am webmaster, but don't have access to the domain-properties).
I know, it's a very stupid situation, but there's nothing much I can do about it.

is there a way I can automatically mount the share on p311 when I log in to that account on p311 via ftp?

for now, I can use a workaround by first logging in via ssh to p311 and then via ftp, and close the ssh-connection after closing the ftp-connection.

any ideas?

Johan
