Guys I almost tried million times to install REDHAT Linux 9.0. Everytime when i install it the monitor turns off.Either if i use TEXT mode or Graphical Mode.
When anaconda starts loading it says
Probing Drivers
Monitor T710BH
VGA VESA Drivers (generic)
and later my monitor turns off into standby mode...
My display card is nVidia FX-5200 and monitor is LG. Why does always monitor turns off?????? and when i install under text mode after the installation and reboot monitor again turns off........
Does Linux Redhat9 hates nvidia that much??? or what is it that i cant install it. I have downloaded some .run file from nvidia.com but still dont know what to do about it so please help me guysFozzi

It sounds more likely that it is your
monitor setting which is wrong, otherwise
you wouldn't get a blank screen but error
messages instead. Was your exact monitor
model listed when you configured X? If not
try one of the generic ones, eg "SVGA
monitor that can display 1024x768@60Hz".
Alternatively you can edit
your /etc/X11/XF86Config(-4) file by hand
and adjust the horizontal sync and vertical
refresh values, try the following:
HorizSync 31.5 - 50.0
VertRefresh 40-90

Did you have it boot into GUI directly or did it boot into text mode? Why don't you change your /etc/inittab (from 5 to 3) and configure your monitor/video card then. I have nvidia video card on my computer in my office and at home with no problem at all.
So, it's not about nvidia or RedHat Linux. It's probably you...taurus

actully when i installed linux in command mode it installs perfectly but after restarting pc when linux configure and starts X Window the monitor turns into black (Standby)
Probably i must install the right driver. I have downloaded and burned the latest driver on CD so what next??????? how am i gonna install it ???? and taurus and 3dave you guys said the common thing to change the XF86Config file. I read on nvidia.com and they said install the drivers so how am i going to install that .run file when i dont even know what it is or how to access it so what you say ?Fozzi

On the drivers page there are 3 steps
listed.
quoted from step 3
With step 3 is a link to a README that
explains how to use the .run file.
Follow the link for the README file and
read it. In the README it is section 2
INSTALLING THE NVIDIA DRIVER

Even after successfully installing the
nvidia driver you may still get a blank
screen if your monitor is still configured
incorrectly....
