hi,
I got a hardware modem and it has windows driver disk with it. but i thought the drivers where for additional features..I am new to linux...
i just got the disks no manuals so i'm just learning it first hand..
and to be honest i don't even know how to dial up i've tried activating and it won't plus i found linux drivers for it on the manufacturers site.When i try to install the drivers it says to install the kernel and i did but it keeps saying it..
also it says to install it from a bash shell whats a bash shell i use the KDE desktop

Hi there,
bash shell is one of more shell that are
installed on your system (you have csh
shell, bsh etc. and you have bash shell)
they are all stored on your computer. First
thing you have to do is to run program
called Terminal (or command line). You can
find it: K-manu -> System Tools ->
Terminal. Now the Terminal will start and
you will see something like
[darren@localhost darren]$.
if looks like
[darren@localhost~]$
you will have to type command like: bash
which will automaticly transport you into
the bash shell.
Follow the instructions that you have
received with your modem drivers and thats
it.
About kernel:
Find if you realy install the kernel
sources. Run the Packages Manager (K ->
System Settings -> Packages.
