If you connect to the internet then log in a different user. You will stay connected to the internet. So if you bring up the internet dialer and try to connect again it will be busy.
If you have x server running you can type xmms at a command pronpt and play mp3s. find the mp3s by using xmms open file.
well ,first thing i do when i open the computer is to connect to the internet so it can't be busy that way- i can't connect to the internet at all! thats the problem rx

Well guess that would be a problem then.
IT must be that it isent config right You got to make sure That linux knows what com the modem is on If linux looks at you sound card and thinks it a modem it will be busy. make sure you have a modem that linux "likes" ie not win modem. Why doent you try to set up another connection and this time test the connection first if you have a speeker on the modem turn it all the way up so you can here it dial.Go to your distro web site and make sure your modem supported..
I had trobble with mine unless i used the lowest connection speed on the dialer.
