I am currently in Africa where I only have a dial-up connection
On the machine is Windows XP 2Ed. I want to parallel install Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. The machine has a Creative Modem Blaster PCI DI5663. Do I need a driver to work with the modem under Ubuntu and if so where can I find it. I can only locate drivers for Windows. I have the CD-ROM that came with the PCI card.

You need to look up linmodem. It is the winmodem part for soft modems. Check that you have infact a soft modem by using the pci vendor and chipset to see what exactly you have.
The other way is a bit odd. You run XP and boot to a virtual machine using the linux partition. Then you can access the soft modem most likely.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

of course an external modem would solve your problem and would allow you to use dial-up with most distros, even live cds. I've used dial-up on ubuntu using 3 differnet us robtics modems and a zoom external modem, serial modems of course, not usb.
Summary: you can find modem drivers for hsp at the amptron site.. you will have to compile them first. though.. you have to look for the integrated modem on there boards.. it is an hsp.... should work.. ...
