Modem and sound card don't work..

Do anyone know what are modems and sound cards models which can fit with Linux (Mandrake 9.1)? Is there any list of models? I have Win software modem. I want to change it... It doesn't work...

What kind of winmodem do you have?
Conextant HCF + HSF drivers are available.
