Hi All,
I have an Lenovo laptop T60 running RHEL WS 4. When I try to boot up my laptop, I got the following error;
(normal other boot stuff) ....then: Red Hat nash....(etc) mkroot label /1 not found mount error 2 mounting ext 3 mount error 2 mounting none switchroot: mount failed :22 umount /initrd/dev failed 2 kernel panic - not syncing Atempting to kill init
.... and then it just sits there and hangs.
this is on the fist page of the booting sequence - before it even switches to any windows or starts loading modules etc.
I'm not sure whats going on but its starting to look like I've got a bad boot partition. Thanks for your help all.

I'm not a linux expert, but since nobody else has answered, i have a thought...I'd say a bad disk somewhere..it looks like it can't mount any partitions at all, or even find them...although it shouldn't be trying to unmount a ramdisk either? (INITialRamDisk) did it boot before OK? did the laptop get unplugged while it was running? I just lost a harddrive that way myself... could be instead tho that it can't mount the pc harddrive that it might have been synced with?.try reconnecting it to your host PC , and see if it works then, as i t looks to me like it might be trying to autosync...
