Where to start...

Firstly, from the system specs and kernel version (a distro name would be more helpful) I am guessing this box is a server of some kind.

The first thing to notice would be that the missing things are not part of the kernel at all, they are to do with compiling anything (im not exactly an expert on this, but what I am saying is correct, just a bit vague).

If you really want to compile a kernel on a p1 133 you will have to get the packages you mention (and probably many more) from any distro and install these to the system, and even then the actual compiling will take ages... also when upgrading from a 2.2 kernel to a 2.4 you will have to upgrade the modutils...

If this is a server, why do you need to compile a kernel for it? surely you picked a distro that did what you needed, if not find another one that does. If it isnt a server I would advise getting a newer distro for it, as everything else on the system will probably be outdated, not just the kernel.

Hope this helps at least a bit, good luck in learning how linux works, you have a long way to go
