Finally, I found a linux distro that works with every component on my PC. I am fairly new to Linux and so far love the experience. The only problem I am having is all the software/games I purchaced throughout the years are for Windows. I know there are emu's to get windows compatibility on a linux platform such as Wine and WinX. Wine, every time I try to compile, I'll get an error when it tries to make a directory. MY user ID is set on admin, and cannot figure out why I'm denied access to creating directories in my Home dir. I heard WineX is a paid service. Is there any other option I can choose from? If now, how much is WineX. There site is currently under renovation and cant go in there online store. This is the last step I need to make a total migration. I cant wait to delete my windows partition and go straight Linux! Thanks in advance.

You can get cedega (formally winex) for a minimum 3 month subscription at $5 a month....so that's $15 USD. The http://www.transgaming.com/ seems to be up at the moment too. You can get cedega for free via cvs (http://www.transgaming.com/license.php?source=1) but you don't get things like safedisc support or any technical assistance.
Rather than trying to compile wine, why not install a precompiled binary?
$ sudo apt-get install wine
should do the trick.
