Subject: Mandrake not working with my Cable |
Comment: I have a cable modem, and Mandrake won't work with it. The windows side of this puter works fine and I transferred all the settings such as gateway and DNS stuff, and made sure the IPs were the same, but it still won't work. It does recognize my ethernet card. I can't figure out why it won't work. Please help me... I'm so sick of the windows side...

Reply: (edit)Make sure dhcp is off make your ip static, Make sure you have ALL the numbers, , hassle your provider if you have to get the default gateway, the dns numbers, the domain name , and the host name, Use your ip from windows. Don't forget to make that static too so It won't change. Don't mix up domain and host that threw me too the first time Host is like @home Domain name server is like olympi1.wa.home.com Also the assigned name address in windows like C662476-Z did nothing for me in linux. It assigns 127.0.0.1 as default local. Your provider might be different but I hope this helps though.
